M B (Barry) McNulty

cG9zdDoyNzc0

Barry is our principal vet and owner of the practice. He is no stranger to Dromore having worked and lived in the town for over 14 years. He is originally from East Donegal and the Dromore landscape is home from home. It was while growing up on his uncle’s dairy farm that he developed his interest and passion for animals. After graduating from Glasgow Vet School in 2007, he spent a number of years practising in Ayrshire and Maghera before moving to Dromore.

During his 17 years in practice, he has developed vast skills and knowledge and has recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. Barry has a keen interest and flare for orthopaedic procedures especially cruciate repair techniques.

In his free time Barry manages his small flock of sheep and enjoys walking the long stretches of beach along the Wild Atlantic Way, with his partner and 3 dogs.

Claire Davidson

Veterinary Surgeon MVB, MRCVS
cG9zdDoyNzc2

Claire worked in a small animal and equine hospital in County Louth for her first 7 years in practice. She then spent the following 7 years, before joining Barry’s Vets in 2023, as the lead first opinion vet at Greenmount Veterinary Clinic in Portadown.

Claire has a keen interest in all aspects of small animal veterinary care but especially enjoys surgery. She has developed a real expertise excising soft tissue tumours and has a passion for performing BOAS surgery.

Claire grew up in Dollingstown but is no stranger to Dromore as her mum is a native of the area. She’s a busy mum, looking after her daughter, her daughter’s ponies and is often to be found supporting the local Pony Club and all the activities that come with that. Last but by no means least she enjoys spending time walking Sasha, her German Shepherd and Muffin the family Jack Russell.

Lisa Wilson

Registered Veterinary Nurse RVN
cG9zdDoyNzc4

Lisa grew up on a family farm near Kilkeel, spending a lot of time assisting with her father’s herd of suckler cows and his sheep. She developed a keen interest in the veterinary care of small animals and started her nurse training in 2003. After qualifying in 2007 she spent some time working and travelling in Australia.

Now living locally, with her partner and three children, Lisa enjoys the busy life of a working mum. Between the practice and family life, she still finds the time to pull on a pair of boots and help out on her partner’s farm.   Lisa is our practice Cat Friendly Advocate and has a real soft spot for all those that purr including, of course, Jasper her lovable cat.

Ellie Johnston

Student Veterinary Nurse Student RVN
cG9zdDoyNzgw

Ellie, as you would expect, loves animals both large and small. When she isn’t in clinic, learning about the veterinary care of small animals, you can find her at the yard exercising and mucking out her horse.

Ellie and her temperamental friend compete successfully in dressage and working hunter competitions. While working with us Ellie is training to become a registered veterinary nurse and plans to stay at Barry’s for the next few years whilst she completes her diploma at the NorthWest Regional College.

As well as her job, pony and studies, Ellie is a keen and talented photographer.

Jasmine Richardson

Receptionist
cG9zdDoyNzYz

Jasmine is our English rose who grew up in beautiful Surrey, just south of London. Having moved here more than 25 years ago she is certainly now a citizen of Dromore. She has a long history of fostering and rehabilitating homeless pets and this led Jasmine into the world of veterinary care 11 years ago.

Jasmine is the fulcrum of a close-knit family unit, all five generations of which adore her. She has lots of friends, who keep her busy in her spare time. She enjoys the company of Elfie, her three-legged cat and, if you are an early riser, you might even see her out and about in Dromore walking her shy Labrador Darcy.

Gillian Reid

Receptionist/Vet's Assistant
cG9zdDoxODc0

Gillian always wanted to work with animals having grown up around a variety of dogs, cats and other species, including a pet starling, a seagull and a hooded crow! She has previous experience in veterinary practices having worked in a clinic in Holywood in Belfast for 3 years. After that job she enjoyed a 19-year stint working in a boarding kennels.

After taking some time out to raise her daughter, she joined the team here at Barry’s Vets in 2017. Luckily for us she takes a day off from the farm each week to be our Wednesday receptionist It’s a day we value, as we all get to benefit from her experience and caring, earthy nature.

In her free time, Gillian loves pottering about at home, in her yard, with all her animals, especially Bell the Border Collie and her noisy guinea hens.

Sarah Doone

Receptionist
cG9zdDoyODAz

Sarah grew up in a family that surrounded themselves with small animals including guinea pigs, rabbits and birds.  Since then she’s always had a keen interest in animals.

Originally from Belfast, Sarah moved to Dromore six years ago, where she works as a business process analyst during the week. At the weekends, she’ll be on our reception on Saturdays. The rest of her free time is spent playing music and spending time with her husband and two King Charles Spaniels.
